KUST BMS STUDENTS COMPLETE RESEARCH INTERNSHIP AT NITTE UNIVERSITY, MANGALORE, INDIA

The students of Biomedical Science Department [BMS] of Komar university of Science and Technology have attended a short term research internship at NITTE University, Mangalore, India from June 11 2024 till June 20 2024. During this research internship, BMS students visited the prestigious NITTE University Center for Science Education & Research[NUCSER], NITTE University K S Hegde Medical Academy [KSHEMA], NITTE University Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital to learn various advanced techniques in Biomedical Science. The students gained knowledge and working experience in the fields of Developmental Biology, rDNA Technology, Cell based Assays, Personal genomics & Precision Medicine, Tissue Engineering, Model systems in Biomedical Science Research at NUCSER. Apart from this, the students have gained an insights of Cytogenetics in detecting various genetic diseases both prenatal and postnatal stages and possible treatments offered at KSHEMA.

Students had discussions about pre-clinical trails and its importance at Animal Research and Experimentation, NUCARE of NITTE University. In addition, the students were given an introductory lab sessions on the most advanced protocols like Radiation Biology, Nuclear Medicine, Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine at NITTE University Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital. This program was designed and executed by Dr. Noel Vinay Thomas, Chairperson, Biomedical Science Department, KUST. This program was supervised by Prof. Dr. Kawis Aziz Faraj, Vice President, KUST.

The program also was attended by KUST faculty members Ms. Monica Diyya from Pharmacy Department, and Ms. Hawar Sardar from Biomedical Science Department. This internship was organized as a part of MoU between KUST-NITTE universities. The coordination for this research internship was made by Dr. Syed Riyaz Ahammed, Dy. Director – International Relations, NITTE University. The entire internship was planned, scheduled and executed by Prof. Dr. Anirban Chakraborthy, Director, NUCSER, NITTE University.
