International Radiology Day Event Organized by BMS students

On the 7th November 2024, Students from Biomedical Science Department organized an event called “International Radiology Day” at Majidi Mall, Sulaymaniyah. This event was conducted to raise the awareness of the importance of Radiology and its various allied specialties that play a key role in diagnosis and treatment of many clinical conditions. November 8th is World’s Radiography Day, commemorating the 1895 accident that led to Wilhelm Röentgen’s unintentional discovery of x-rays. Acknowledging its significant contribution to the healthcare system and increasing knowledge about diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy. BMS students actively participated and gave information to the general public about techniques of MRI, PET-CT, DEXA Scans, Mammogram and X-rays and their role as effective diagnostic tools. This program was a part of the course “Diagnostic and Therapeutic Instrumentation” to enhance the knowledge of the students who are interested to take up the radiology diagnostics as their future career after graduating from BMS department. Ms. Hawar Sardar Hassan, who designed and executed this event has contributed immensely for the success of the event under the directives of Dr. Noel Vinay Thomas, chairperson of BMS department. The event was well received and appreciated by the general public.
